In recent weeks, rumors have swirled that President Trump may nominate former Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Secretary Dr. Ben Carson for the role of Surgeon General.
On Sunday morning, Dr. Carson laid those rumors to rest.
In a post on X, Dr. Carson wrote, “I am excited to speak with President Trump about how I will continue to advance the America First agenda, and I am meeting with him in the near future.”
Carson added, “However, contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the Surgeon General.”

Per Fox News:
Ben Carson broke his silence around rumors of him joining the second Trump administration as the U.S. surgeon general on Sunday, but noted that he plans to speak with President-elect Donald Trump soon.
Carson, who served as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) from 2017 to 2021 during the first Trump administration, dispelled the false reports in an X post on Sunday.
“I am excited to speak with President Trump about how I will continue to advance the America First agenda, and I am meeting with him in the near future,” the retired neurosurgeon wrote.
“However, contrary to reports, I will not be serving as the Surgeon General.”
Despite ruling out that he will not serve as Surgeon General, Dr. Carson may again find himself back in the Trump administration as HUD Secretary.
Newsweek reported that Polymarket currently has Carson leading all other possible HUD Secretary picks with 26%.
Throughout Trump’s 2024 presidential run, Dr. Carson campaigned on Trump’s behalf in several key swing states, including his home state of Michigan.
Ben Carson in Detroit, Michigan talking about Trump, etc: “… I don’t worry about people trying to cancel me, as long as God doesn’t cancel me… The second misconception that people have is that Trump is a nasty man, is a racist, is all kinds of things they tried to demonize him… pic.twitter.com/MNVrIquGKP

If not nominated as HUD Secretary, Carson, the founder of Little Patriots Learning and who has spent the last several years advocating for American students to receive a more patriotic education, may have an outside chance of heading the Department of Education.
