CAIR Defamation Case Against Former Employee Backfires, Organization Will Now Be Forced to Reveal Funding Sources

After a former employee of the Hamas-tied Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) alleged that the organization received funding from foreign sources tied to terrorism, the organization tried to sue the ex-employee into silence.

Ultimately, Cair dropped the suit when it became apparent they would need to open their books and reveal the details of who is funding them and by how much, but the former employee filed a lawsuit of her own.

Now, US Magistrate Judge David Schultz has ruled that CAIR’s donors, funding sources, including potentially foreign sources, and any assets owned by the group are within the “scope of permissible discovery.”

CAIR defines itself as a Muslim civil rights organization and advocacy group.

In 2008 the FBI ruled CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror-finance trial against the Holy Land Foundation and its former officials.

In recent years CAIR has been a leading voice in censoring and banning conservative voices on social media.

Although the Biden-Harris regime listed CAIR as a partner in fighting “anti-Semitism,”  CAIR’s Executive Director Nihad Awad cheered the October 7th slaughter of 1,300 Jews in southern Israel by Hamas.

From The Geller Report:

In a recent legal ruling, Hamas-CAIR will be forced to  “turn over evidence about everything from fundraising practices, such as having raised money from foreign sources and concealed it; whether it deceived donors; whether it mismanaged donor money; whether it retaliated against employees or threatened to retaliate against employees for raising concerns about sexual harassment or the like.”

“The mother of all legal boomerangs.”

Jeffrey Robbins, the lawyer for former employee Lori Saroya, said the order will force CAIR to “turn over evidence about everything from fundraising practices, such as having raised money from foreign sources and concealed it;  whether it deceived donors; whether it mismanaged donor money; whether it retaliated against employees or threatened to retaliate against employees for raising concerns about sexual harassment or the like.”

The New York Post reports:

The judge noted that “the thrust of CAIR’s allegations against Saroya in the 2021 complaint is that Saroya falsely implied CAIR received funding from foreign governments and terrorists when she stated CAIR accepted ‘international funding through their Washington Trust Foundation.’”

Schultz stated that “CAIR points to no public admission that it received funding from terrorists or that it received funding through the Washington Trust Foundation” but “discovery into these matters is proportionate to the needs of the case.”

“CAIR has not shown that the burden or expense of the proposed discovery outweighs its likely benefit, or that it unwarrantedly taxes its resources,” he ruled.

According to the Center for Security Policy, CAIR is a front for the Hamas terrorist group.

In 2023, The Gateway Pundit reported that the son of long-time CAIR Adviser Siraj Wahhaj, th younger Siraj Ibn Wahhaj, his sisters Hujrah Wahhaj and Subhanah Wahhaj, and Subhanah’s husband, Lucas Morton, were convicted charges including conspiracy to provide material support to terrorists, providing material support to terrorists, and conspiracy to murder an officer or employee of the United States.

It’s still mindboggling to me that CAIR was included by the Biden administration in the list of groups that contributed to the White House strategy to combat Antisemitism.

When we find out the list of terrorist supporters who fund CAIR, that decision will look even more insane. https://t.co/rlFxq2jarx

Hamas-linked CAIR is an unindicted co-conspirator in a Hamas terror funding case — so named by the Justice Department. CAIR officials have repeatedly refused to denounce Hamas and Hizballah as… https://t.co/6XoNfAik0X
