Meghan McCain has added fuel to the long-swirling speculation surrounding the marriage of Barack and Michelle Obama, claiming on Wednesday that her sources have confirmed the former first couple is living “separate lives.”
“I have been hearing this rumor that the Obamas are getting a divorce from very reputable people,” McCain revealed on political reporter Tara Palmeri’s podcast, “Somebody’s Gotta Win with Tara Palmeri.”
“I’m not talking about TMZ. I’m not talking about Perez Hilton, although I love him, he’s my friend. I’m talking about serious journalists telling me the divorce rumors are true.”
Palmeri echoed McCain’s claims, stating that the speculation has been circulating in political circles for quite some time. “We’ve heard that for a long time. I just heard that they live separate lives,” Palmeri said, according to Daily Mail.
Palmeri further suggested that the whispers may be politically motivated, as resentment against Obama has grown among Democrats who believe he orchestrated the push for Joe Biden to step aside in the 2024 race.
“I am not at home with them, but it’s not really surprising at this phase of their life. And she clearly has very little interest — she’s always hated politics! She did not really like being First Lady,” Palmeri claimed.
The duo then speculated about the photo Barack shared ahead of the weekend in celebration of Michelle’s birthday.
On Friday, Barack Obama posted a photo of him and Michelle amid rumors that the two are headed for divorce.

Conservative commentator Megyn Kelly weighed in on the brewing speculation, stating the potential implications of an Obama divorce would be seismic.
“I do not know whether this is true, but if it is, it truly would be a political earthquake in Democrat circles, never mind America,” Kelly said on her show. “I don’t remember a presidential divorce in modern history.”
