Vicious Michigan Democrat Known for Animal Cruelty, Who Left 118 Beagles in Lab to Starve, Is Leading Trump Impeachment Push

Michigan Democrat Shri Thanedar made headlines this week by filing seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

But instead of elevating his national profile, the move has sparked renewed scrutiny of Thanedar’s disturbing past: specifically, his role in a horrifying animal abuse scandal involving 118 beagles and 55 long-tailed macaques left to die in locked cages in abandoned buildings in the heat after his drug-testing company went bankrupt.

Back in 2010, Thanedar owned a New Jersey pharmaceutical testing lab called AniClin Preclinical Services, a subsidiary of his larger firm Azopharma. When the business collapsed under his leadership, the facilities were abruptly abandoned—with animals still trapped inside.

Caretakers, horrified by what they saw, broke into the facility to rescue the animals from slow starvation. The lab had become a death camp for helpless creatures, many already subjected to brutal testing. According to the Daily Mail, it involved “unspeakable acts against 118 beagles.”

The story barely made a ripple in the legacy media at the time. But now, as Thanedar tries to posture as a moral authority against Trump, Americans are revisiting the record—and asking how this man ever ended up in Congress.

Meanwhile, the media runs puff-pieces on Thanedar saying that he’s just a former chemist who has a rags-to-riches story becoming a multi-millionaire. They ignore the multiple bankruptcies and the background in animal testing, and the way in which Thanedar left the beagles to die.

The Forgotten Beagle Horror Story

The facility Thanedar owned was part of a system of medical research that routinely uses dogs, especially beagles, for painful experimentation. The justification: their calm demeanor and trusting nature. The result: systemic abuse, with dogs bred to suffer.

Thanedar’s company didn’t just engage in the testing—it locked the doors and walked away, leaving nearly 200 animals inside to die.

These weren’t just oversights or regulatory violations. This was abandonment. Neglect. Cruelty at an industrial scale.

What’s worse, Thanedar has never faced serious political consequences for it. In fact, he leveraged his personal wealth to reinvent himself as a “progressive outsider,” launching a political career in Michigan years later.

In 2018, he ran for governor as a Democrat, spending millions of his own money on a campaign that ended in failure. Then he pivoted, running for state legislature and later Congress, where he now represents Michigan’s 13th District—a majority-black, Detroit-based seat he won in 2022. Thanedar’s millions were able to beat black Democrats in the Congressional primary, he was able to buy the support he needed to overcome challengers who had a much stronger claim to represent the residents of his district, as they were a state representatives and Detroit City Councilwoman.

From Cruelty to Congress

Thanedar’s voting record in the Michigan legislature and in Congress has been reliably far-left. Heritage Action scores him at just 11%, putting him among the most radical members of the House. He supports Biden’s worst policies while championing fringe leftist causes.

And yet, his personal record tells a different story—one of hypocrisy, opportunism, and moral blindness.

At one point, Thanedar called for an end to U.S. military aid to Israel, smearing the Jewish state as an “apartheid regime.” But after a political trip to Israel, he did a sudden about-face and declared support for continued aid. Thanedar renounced his prior membership in the Democratic Socialists of America for not having sufficiently denounced their support of Hamas, blamed for the October 7th terror attacks against Israeli citizens.

His political donations have also raised eyebrows. While claiming to be a loyal Democrat, he gave a max donation to Senator John McCain, the only Republican to earn his financial support.

Despite these contradictions, Thanedar continues to promote himself as a progressive moral crusader. His impeachment stunt against Trump is just the latest attempt to curry favor with the far-left base and cable news bookers.

But this week, that gamble may be backfiring.

The Fauci BeagleGate Echo

The Thanedar scandal is eerily reminiscent of the #BeagleGate story surrounding Dr. Anthony Fauci—another left-wing figure shielded by the media despite direct involvement in grotesque animal torture.

The Gateway Pundit was the first national outlet to blow the whistle on Fauci’s involvement in taxpayer-funded experiments that saw beagles’ vocal cords cut so they wouldn’t cry out in pain while being eaten alive by sandflies.

Now Thanedar’s record is coming under similar scrutiny. Left-wing elites get to profit from the chronic abuse of animals without consequence.

It takes a special kind of arrogance for a man with Thanedar’s history to claim the moral high ground. His record isn’t just flawed—it’s horrifying.

Thanedar’s impeachment stunt may grab temporary headlines. But what it really did was rip the lid off a long-buried scandal which the mainstream media is trying to cover.
