Venezuelan migrant Josue Vargas Rodriguez kept himself busy after arriving in Chicago in October 2023.

After coming across Joe Biden’s broken border, Rodriguez thanked America by being arrested 16 times in the less than two years he has been in the country.

Finally, under the Trump administration and following his 16th arrest, Rodriguez is in ICE custody and headed for deportation.

According to CWB Chicago, after his 13th arrest in February, he was warned by a Cook County judge that he would be eligible for deportation after pleading guilty to trying to rob a woman in the Streeterville neighborhood.

Following that warning, Rodriguez went on to be arrested three more times.

CWB Chicago reports:

Rodriguez entered his plea barely a week after President Donald Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, which “mandates the federal detention of illegal immigrants who are accused of theft, burglary, assaulting a law enforcement officer, and any crime that causes death or serious bodily injury.”

Remarkably, CPD records show he managed to get arrested again on February 27, just three weeks after the judge sentenced him to probation and warned him about the potential for deportation. This time he was charged with misdemeanor assault in the first block of East Lake in the Loop.

He got out of jail again and got arrested again on April 4 in the 200 block of North Wells for a felony drug charge, according to CPD records.

He was arrested again on April 7 for turnstile jumping at a CTA station.

Rodriguez is currently in ICE custody.
