President Trump signaled on Thursday during a bill signing ceremony that the U.S. is close to a deal with Iran that would bring peace to the Middle East and eliminate its nuclear capabilities.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, President Trump spoke to reporters Wednesday night on worsening conditions in the Middle East regarding Iran’s nuclear program. The U.S. authorized evacuations of dependents and non-essential personnel at several embassies and bases in the Middle East after Iran threatened attacks over the possible breakdown of negotiations with the U.S. over its nuclear program amid warnings by both Israel and the U.S. that Iran will not be allowed to develop a nuclear bomb.
This comes as Israel is reportedly planning a strike on Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities despite ongoing negotiations and President Trump telling them to stand down while he negotiates a deal to bring lasting peace to the region.
This worries many supporters of the President that the US will follow Israel into another endless war in the Middle East.
As The Gateway Pundit reported, Army Lt. Col. (Ret.) Darin Gaub, a former UH-60 Blackhawk pilot and Afghanistan war veteran, warned against a knee-jerk response, telling The Gateway Pundit that President Trump should, instead pursue a “maximum pressure campaign, [placing] crushing sanctions on the regime.”
Before moving toward military action, Gaub said, “Let’s use all those other elements of power, like economic sanctions and diplomacy.”
Many Favor U.S. Military Action Against the Iranian Nuclear Threat, But Not so Fast, Says Combat Veteran
Will President Trump, who ran on his record and a message of ending the wars and ensuring world peace, allow Israel to plunge us into another Middle East war?
He signaled on that he’s making progress with Iran. “I don’t want them going in because I think that would blow it,” the President stated. However, he continued, “It might help it actually, but it also could blow it.”
Why would he say Israel invading Iran “might help”?
WATCH:
Look, I want to have an agreement with Iran. We’re fairly close to an agreement. We are fairly close to a pretty good agreement. It’s got to be better than pretty good though. I’d much prefer an agreement. As long as I think there is an agreement, I don’t want them going in because I think that would blow it. It might help it actually, but it also could blow it. But we’ve had very good discussions with Iran. Whether or not we get there, I can’t tell you, but it will happen soon.
I say this, Peter, very strongly, they can’t have– whether it’s going in or not going in, they can’t have a nuclear weapon. I’d prefer the more friendly path.
