President Trump Issues a Stern Warning as Iran Parliament’s Vote to Close Strait of Hormuz Threatens to Send Oil Prices Through the Roof

President Trump made it clear Monday morning that he would not sit idly by while major organizations like OPEC potentially seek to capitalize on a disturbing development that threatens the world’s oil supply.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Jordan Conradon reported, Iran’s parliament voted yesterday to approve the closure of the Strait of Hormuz in response to Saturday’s attacks on the country’s nuclear facilities by U.S. forces. Closing the Strait of Hormuz could be just one of the retaliatory measures Iran takes in response to the U.S. jumping into Israel’s war.

The Strait is used as a route for roughly 20% of the world’s oil shipping. If Iran’s Supreme Council approves the move, it will likely raise oil prices worldwide.

Moreover, global shipping could stall and cause the economy to crash.

With the potential closure of the strait on his mind and a potential catastrophic spike in oil prices, Trump sent a powerful message to those seeking to gouge Americans at the gas pump and rake in the profits off the war.

“Everyone, keep oil prices down, I’m watching!” Trump wrote in all caps.

“You’re playing right into the hands of the enemy. Don’t do it!” he added.

It’s anyone’s guess at this point what action Trump will take should OPEC and others ignore his message, but Iran has already learned the hard way what happens when you try to call his bluff.

Trump later ordered the Department of Energy to act proactively to keep oil and gas prices low, assuming the Iranian regime shuts off the Strait of Hormuz.

“To the Department of Energy, DRILL BABY DRILL!!!” Trump said. “And I mean now!!!”
