Hollywood actress Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, is the latest target of the radical left’s cancel crusade.
On July 23, American Eagle launched its bold fall denim campaign starring Sydney Sweeney. The ad plays on a pun: “genes” versus “jeans,” with Sweeney famously crossing out “genes” to replace it with “jeans.”
In a voiceover, she says, “Genes are passed down from parents to offspring, often determining traits like hair color, personality, and even eye color. My jeans are blue.”
That wordplay was all it took to send the far left into a full-blown meltdown.
Some accused the ad of echoing eugenics and white supremacist beauty ideals, citing her blonde hair and blue eyes as part of a subliminal message. A Kean University professor even likened the pun to rhetoric straight out of the American eugenics movement.
At the Desert 5 Spot premiere of Americana in Hollywood: Sweeney arrives in classic fashion—pale‑yellow gown, hair in old‑school waves, black SUV pulling up. As she steps out, a woman in the crowd accosts her:
“Stop the ad, that is being racist!”
Sweeney remained stone-faced, escorted by security, and slipped into the theater.

President Trump weighed in on Sydney Sweeney’s American Eagle modeling campaign and called it the “HOTTEST” ad out there.
“Sydney Sweeney, a registered Republican, has the “HOTTEST” ad out there. It’s for American Eagle, and the jeans are “flying off the shelves.” Go get ‘em Sydney! On the other side of the ledger, Jaguar did a stupid, and seriously WOKE advertisement, THAT IS A TOTAL DISASTER! The CEO just resigned in disgrace, and the company is in absolute turmoil. Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad. Shouldn’t they have learned a lesson from Bud Lite, which went Woke and essentially destroyed, in a short campaign, the Company. The market cap destruction has been unprecedented, with BILLIONS OF DOLLARS SO FOOLISHLY LOST. Or just look at Woke singer Taylor Swift. Ever since I alerted the world as to what she was by saying on TRUTH that I can’t stand her (HATE!). She was booed out of the Super Bowl and became, NO LONGER HOT. The tide has seriously turned — Being WOKE is for losers, being Republican is what you want to be. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump said on Truth Social on Monday.
It can be recalled that Vice President J.D. Vance also slammed Democrats over the ridiculous and baseless backlash.
“I actually thought that one of the lessons [Democrats] might take is we’re going to be less crazy,” Vance said.
“And the lesson they have apparently taken is we’re going to attack people as Nazis for thinking Sydney Sweeney is beautiful. Great strategy, guys. That’s how you’re going to win the midterm, especially young American men.”
In its official statement, American Eagle made clear:
“Sydney Sweeney Has Great Jeans’ is and always was about the jeans.
Her jeans, her story.
We’ll continue to celebrate how everyone wears their AE jeans with confidence, their way.
Great jeans look good on everyone.”
