Trump Team To Receive Briefing by Sam Altman on Huge Development in PHD-Level ‘AI Agents’ – Poised to Shake-up the Job Market, but With National Security Implications

Now, with the Donald J. Trump administration up and running, begins the work of not only implementing the President’s agenda in its multiple areas, but also reacting to all problems and opportunities that present themselves.

And a reported new breakthrough in Artificial Intelligence has arisen, which is potentially both an opportunity and a problem.

The Trump team is to receive a secret briefing on a development in AI ‘super agents’ that are expected to be very disruptive regarding the utilization of the technology in the companies.

The Telegraph reported:

“Sam Altman, the boss of OpenAI, is preparing to give a behind-closed-doors briefing to US officials next week where the company will discuss the latest developments in its technology. Advances reportedly include its work on chatbots capable of PhD-level thinking.

Technology companies have been developing ‘AI agents’ that can take on tasks typically undertaken by human workers, doing them by controlling parts of a user’s computer or phone to manage a diary or respond to routine emails.

These bots are growing increasingly sophisticated, with expectations that AI chatbots will soon be able to perform tasks such as building a working app from scratch or engaging in long-term planning. This emerging form of AI could begin to do complex work normally taken on by a human, such as computer programming.”

The technology is said to improve productivity and free up workers to focus on other tasks – but the writing is on the wall: the rapid advances may cost millions of jobs.

AI companies’ ultimate goal is to develop a ‘superintelligence’ – or artificial general intelligence (AGI) – that that is much superior to the capabilities of the human brain.

But OpenAI’s Altman downplayed the significance of the present upcoming announcements.

“Mr. Altman said: ‘We are not going to deploy AGI next month, nor have we built it. We have some very cool stuff for you but [please] chill and cut your expectations 100x’.”

The meeting will deal on the state of AI advancement and ways to drive economic growth.

“Earlier this month, Mr Altman said: ‘We are now confident we know how to build AGI as we have traditionally understood it. We believe that, in 2025, we may see the first AI agents ‘join the workforce’ and materially change the output of companies’.”
