Pete Hegseth just took one more major step towards being confirmed as Trump’s Secretary of Defense.

Despite all of the hysterical foolishness of Democrat senators like Elizabeth Warren during the Hegseth hearing last week, the Senate Armed Forces Committee has voted to advance Hegseth’s nomination.

This is great news for the new Trump administration and the country.

From The Hill:

Senate panel advances Defense secretary nominee Hegseth on party-line vote

The Senate Armed Services Committee on Monday voted to advance Pete Hegseth, President Trump’s nominee to serve as secretary of Defense, to the floor.

The 14-13 vote was strictly along party lines.

Senators on the Armed Services panel also voted to waive the seven-day rule that usually requires at least a week to elapse between a nominee’s confirmation hearing and a vote to discharge from committee.

Senate Republicans then held a separate vote to advance Hegseth’s nomination.

Hegseth is one of Trump’s most high-profile nominees, and his confirmation hearing last week featured some fireworks as Democrats went on the attack.

According to Politico, Hegseth’s confirmation vote could happen in just a few days:

Senate Republicans are likely to push through the confirmation of the former Fox News host and Army veteran, although the vote may not occur for several days.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune needs Democrats to agree to speed up consideration of Hegseth’s nomination. Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) said he expects Democrats to block quick action on Hegseth, pushing a confirmation vote to Wednesday or Thursday.

Senate Republicans clearly want to confirm Hegseth.

I just voted to advance Pete Hegseth’s nomination to the Senate floor. There is no time to waste. The Senate should confirm Hegseth NOW! pic.twitter.com/W49rxi6jXW

Just cast my vote to send Pete Hegseth’s nomination to the floor of the Senate.

The Senate should move quickly to confirm Pete so we can begin the important work of supporting the warfighter and rebuilding our military.

It’s time to get to work! https://t.co/9aioRTGcKs

At this point, many people will be surprised if Hegseth is not confirmed. He is the clear choice for the job.
