EXCLUSIVE: Illinois and Chicago Defy Federal Deportation and Reject Effort by Alderman Raymond Lopez to Assist

Recent reporting has suggested that mass deportations at the hands of the new Trump Administration have had to be reconfigured.

In a Washington Post article from January 19, it was intimated that the Trump administration was reconsidering their plans because of a leak.

In the article incoming border czar Tom Homan was quoted, “We’re looking at this leak and will make a decision based on this leak.” Homan went on to say, “It’s unfortunate because anyone leaking law enforcement operations puts officers at great risk.”

Tom Homan addresses the latest plan for deportations on Fox News.

Chicago and its sanctuary city status has been a focus of the incoming Trump Organization’s targeted deportation plan. While an operational plan leak may be hindering the administration’s efforts, it certainly will not be the only obstacle the Federal government will encounter in those efforts to round up illegal immigrants.

Illinois has been passing state laws in the last few years that not only protect illegal immigrants but help them avoid detection altogether. This month HB 5164 passed both houses of Illinois Congress and is now awaiting signature from Governor J.B. Pritzker.

The bill addresses “resident” name change. It lowers the residency requirement from six months to three and allows petitioners to keep these name change documents from becoming public in the case that it can cause hardship or harm.

The petitioners would also be able to keep address information from becoming public. The bill would be applicable to criminal offenders as well.

This bill follows a pattern for the Illinois legislature as it pertains to illegal immigrants. Illinois has also passed HB3882 in 2023 allowing illegals to obtain a “standard identification card” replacing the former classification of “non-compliant identification card.” Illinois further muddied the waters of identifying illegals in this bill by changing definitions. Now, a “limited term REAL ID compliant identification card,” can be obtained by asylum seekers and refugees.

In 2023 Illinois also made it a human rights violation for an owner, real estate broker, or anyone else involved in real estate transactions to discriminate based on immigration status.

Illinois has also raised taxes by $1B dollars with the largest increases in the Human Services department going to the illegal immigrants.

The Gateway Pundit also reported on FOIA findings showing the Biden White House worked to place immigrants in Illinois while FEMA has been sending millions to Illinois in support of illegals.

In July of 2024 The Gateway Pundit reported on FOIA findings showing the City of Chicago had been colluding with Catholic Charities and an Obama Foundation affiliate to place illegals in apartments at the rate of 1, 100 per month.

With the combination of the legislation, funding, and shelter it is now apparent that Illinois has been working to make the illegal immigrant population undetectable. An interesting coincidence as deportation efforts begin under Tom Homan.

On many occasions incoming Border Czar Tom Homan has indicated that state and local governments can assist the federal government in apprehending illegals by detaining them for collection.

One clear cut opportunity for this would be in the holding of illegals who commit crimes. Illinois however, passed the SAFE-T act in recent years which abolished cashless bail putting violent criminals back on the streets.

At least one politician in Chicago seems to think assisting the government in this way would benefit his community. Last week Paul Drabik and Terry Newsome of Behind Enemy Lines podcast met with 15th Ward of Chicago Alderman Raymond Lopez who introduced an amendment to the Chicago “Welcoming City,” ordinance.

Last week @TerryNewsome357 and I made public comments to the Chicago Police and Fire Commission regarding illegal immigrants and our findings. We then spoke with @RaymondALopez about his recent amendment to the Welcoming City ordinance. City Council voted to table this amendment… pic.twitter.com/HzikbWCrYA

In the interview, Alderman Lopez explains that his amendment would allow Chicago Police to work with the Federal government to remove illegals involved in drug crimes, gang-related crimes, prostitution, human trafficking, or child sex crimes.

Last week, the City Council chose to table the amendment, effectively killing it, and allowing illegal immigrant criminals to roam the streets putting Federal Officers and the population at risk.

In an X post on January 22nd, Alderman Lopez seemingly references President Trump’s Executive Order allowing Federal Law Enforcement to arrest illegal immigrants at churches, schools, and other formerly protected areas.

The simple point is that the City of Chicago should be keeping illegal immigrant criminals off the street in the first place.

If you don’t want ICE going into churches, TURN OVER DANGEROUS CRIMINALS!

If you don’t want ICE going into hospitals, TURN OVER DANGEROUS CRIMINALS!

If you don’t want ICE going into schools, TURN OVER DANGEROUS CRIMINALS!

If you don’t want ICE going into neighborhoods, TURN…

Finally, Alderman Lopez makes some pertinent observations about Mayor Brandon Johnson and his allegiance to the teacher’s union as a former lobbyist.

Lopez makes note of the fact that overcrowding in schools from the illegal immigration influx in Chicago has the downstream effect of increasing the size and scope of the Chicago Teacher’s Union bureaucracy.

Never mind the fact that schools have relegated the children to special needs programs doing nothing to help them or assess their real educational needs. However, this is evidence for politicians benefiting from illegal immigration. Other examples are sure to be revealed.

Americans should be optimistic that the Trump Administration is moving forward with deportation activities. However, corrupt blue states such as Illinois appear to have used Democrat majority rule to favor non-citizens over their own constituencies.

One Democrat politician in Chicago seems to be challenging this effort. More Alderman Raymond Lopez figures are needed. Otherwise, deportation may not be as cut and dry as Americans had hoped.
