Star of New Captain America Movie Doesn’t Think the Character Should Represent America (VIDEO)

The star of a new ‘Captain America’ movie, based on the Marvel Comics character, recently told an audience that he doesn’t think the character should represent America.

Advanced ticket sales for this movie are not great and now they’re going to get even worse.

Why is it that so many actors ruin the films they’re starring in by saying stupid, woke things like this? It’s very much like the star of the new Disney ‘Snow White’ movie, who has done everything she can to make sure the movie will flop by merely talking in interviews.

FOX News reports:

‘Captain America: Brave New World’ star says the character should not represent America

Anthony Mackie, the star of Marvel’s soon-to-release “Captain America: Brave New World,” said that the iconic character should not “represent” America.

“Captain America represents a lot of different things and I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations. It’s about a man who keeps his word, who has honor, dignity and integrity. Someone who is trustworthy and dependable,” he said.

The actor made the comments on a press tour for the fourth installment of the Captain America franchise at the Hotel De La Ville in Rome, Italy, on January 27…

Marvel’s Italian account posted the comments Mackie made in a promotion edit of the film. However, they cut out the part of the movie lead saying “I don’t think the term ‘America’ should be one of those representations.”

Disney, who owns Marvel Studios, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

He has since tried to walk back the comments. The Hollywood reporter:

Anthony Mackie has clarified earlier remarks about the ethos of Captain America that some on the Internet took issue with.

“Let me be clear about this, I’m a proud American and taking on the shield of a hero like CAP is the honor of a lifetime,” Mackie wrote on Instagram stories Tuesday. “I have the utmost respect for those who serve and have served our country. CAP has universal characteristics that people all over the world can relate to.”

It’s nice that he tried to clarify his comments but the damage is done. Studios might want to start coaching their actors on how NOT to ruin a movie. Or just keep them away from microphones in public.
