PEACE MOVES: JD Vance Meets Zelensky in Rome, Discuss Tomorrow’s Call Between Trump and Putin

Zelensky and Vance in Rome.

Vice President JD Vance hadn’t publicly met Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky since the blowout in the Oval Office, when the Kiev regime leader decided to set himself on fire in front of the press, and nearly lost the US backing for good.

Since then, may geopolitical moves have been taken by all the players involved: the US, Russia, Ukraine, EU four (France, UK, Germany and Poland).

While it’s proving to be every bit as difficult as expected, the peace negotiations have begun, and by now we can fairly say that the process has unstoppable momentum.

So, in very different circumstances, Vance met Zelensky again, in Rome, after the Open Mass for the Inauguration of Pope Leo XIV.

ZELENSKY ASKED JD VANCE FOR SANCTIONS ON RUSSIA:

“During our talks we discussed negotiations in Istanbul to where the Russians sent a low level delegation of non-decision-makers. I reaffirmed that Ukraine is ready to be engaged in real diplomacy and underscored the importance of a full and unconditional ceasefire as soon as possible. We have also touched upon the need for sanctions against Russia, bilateral trade, defense cooperation, battlefield situation and upcoming prisoners exchange. Pressure is needed against Russia until they are eager to stop the war. And, of course, we talked about our joint steps to achieve a just and durable peace. Thank you to all American people for the support and leadership in saving lives.”

Zelensky greets JD Vance on arriving for the Pope inauguration.

The two had shaken hands earlier, before the open mass:

New York Post reported:

“Vice President JD Vance shook hands with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in their first public encounter since their infamous Oval Office blow-up and later had a “good meeting” at the residence of the US ambassador to Italy.

Vance and Zelensky briefly crossed paths Sunday while attending the first formal mass by Pope Leo XIV in St. Peter’s Basilica, smiling as they greeted each other. Second lady Usha Vance joined her husband in greeting Zelensky as well.

Zelensky was seated nearby European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, not far from Vance. Vance led the US delegation along with fellow Catholic, Secretary of State Marco Rubio.”

Reportedly, also discussed was tomorrow’s call between President Donald J. Trump and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.
