Stonewall Schumer Tried to Force Senate Reading of Entire ‘Big, Beautiful Bill’ Before Debate

Chuck Schumer

The top Democrat in the Senate, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), tried to force the clerks on the Senate floor to read the ‘big, beautiful bill’ in its entirety, all 950 pages of it, in an effort to inflict as much pain as possible on Senate Republicans, a move that could take up to 15 hours.

Schumer’s delay tactic is a far cry from how radical leftist Democrats usually approach bills.

In 2010, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi famously chided those who questioned the ability to read the massive Affordable Care Act before voting on it, “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

Schumer took to X to state, ” I will object to Republicans moving forward on their Big, Ugly Bill without reading it on the Senate floor.”

“Republicans won’t tell America what’s in the bill.”

“So Democrats are forcing it to be read start to finish on the floor.”

“We will be here all night if that’s what it takes to read it.”

BREAKING: I will object to Republicans moving forward on their Big, Ugly Bill without reading it on the Senate floor

Republicans won’t tell America what’s in the bill

So Democrats are forcing it to be read start to finish on the floor

We will be here all night if that’s what…

Voting, however, is underway on an initial procedural vote for the bill.
